Next Sunday is the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul and annual collection for Peter’s Pence is taken up at all Masses. This is a special charitable collection and is intended for use by the Pope in his worldwide humanitarian efforts. Victims of natural disasters, wars, diseases and other catastrophic events receive assistance from Peter’s Pence. Economically strapped diocese and churches, hospital and Catholic education programs also receive funds. In 2013 this worldwide collection raised nearly €190 million to support our suffering brothers and sisters around the globe. Pope Benedict said that the collection is “the most characteristic expression of the participation of all the faithful in the Bishop’s of Rome charitable initiatives in favour of the universal Church.”

Stained Glass Windows in the Church
Over the years you will have noticed that the figures in the stained glass windows in the church have faded and in many cases only the outline of the figures remains. Furthermore on examination it has emerged that the lead holding the stained glass in place is in need of replacement.
Following a decision by the Parish Finance Committee to refurbish the stained glass and leaded windows in the sanctuary and family room, tenders were sought from nine stained glass studios to carry out the work.
Six tenders were submitted and after a detailed analysis and follow up on references, M/s Emerald Stained Glass has been appointed for the project.
It is expected to commence work in the next week or so and it is envisaged that the work will take about 16 weeks.  We regret any inconvenience caused during this period but it is hoped that disruption will be minimal.
As the Parish Church is a listed building, we have consulted with the Heritage and Conservation Officer for Co. Meath. She has visited the church and we are committed to carrying out the work in line with the requirements of the repair and conservation of structures that are protected under the Planning and Development Act 2000.
