Good News for St. Paul’s National School

St Paul’s National School Ratoath this week received the news that they can expect to have the builder on site in February to build the brand new 24 classroom school that was granted planning permission on 25th November last.

The decision has been taken, following the tender process, to issue the letter of intent to the successful building company. On receipt of the letter the company will then submit the required documentation to the Department and subject to this being in order the builder can be expected to be on site with a month.

As St. Paul’s is in the rapid building programme it is hoped to have the new school ready for the September. The department have appointed a project manager for this work whose role is to oversee the project from planning permission stage, through to construction and finally handover to the school authorities.

The new school, which will replace the existing temporary classroom accommodation, will have 24 general classrooms, a double special needs unit, general purpose room, special needs rooms and all the ancillary rooms that are part of the departmental schedule. In addition three external ball courts, two junior play areas and a car park will be developed.

We are grateful to all who have worked so hard to get St. Paul’s to this stage – the officials in the Department of Education and Skills, the Board of Management, the principal and the teaching staff of the school, the parents association and our local public representatives who accompanied us on many occasions in the past few years to the Department’s planning and building unit in Tullamore.
