Today is Mission Sunday
Excerpts from the Message of Pope Benedict XV1 for Mission Sunday
Mission Sunday provides an opportunity to reflect on “love the Soul of Mission”.
God’s love for each person is the very core of the Gospel. All who accept it, become, in turn, witnesses to the love of God.
Every Christian community is called to make God, who is love, known to the world.
The mandate to spread the message of love was entrusted to the apostles by Jesus after the resurrection. The Church continues this mission which is an inalienable and permanent obligation for all believers.
To be missionary is to love God with all one’s heart, even to giving one’s life for him.
To be missionary is to respond, like the Good Samaritan did, to the needs of all, particularly to the needs of the poor and marginalized.
One who loves with heart of Christ, does not look to selfish interests but only to the glory of God and to the good of neighbour.
Missionary work must strive to bridge all frontiers and cultures, reach all peoples and spread to the utmost ends of the world.
List of the Dead
Please take home a list of the dead sheet and return the completed list of the dead to the box at the back of the church as soon as possible. All our dead are remembered in our Masses during the month of November (the month of the Holy Souls) and in the First Friday Masses throughout the year.
