A word of thanks at Christmas

We would like to thanks all who assist us in the Parish during the year – our sacristans; the altar society and the church cleaners; the folk group and the children’s choir; our cantors, musicians and our church music director; our organists; our readers and their co-ordinators; ministers of Holy Communion and their co-ordinators; our liturgy committee; the baptismal team; those who assist us for the “Do this in Memory of Me” programme and the Confirmation Preparation programme; our parish safeguarding representatives; the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd group; the offertory basket collectors; the Legion of Mary and the St. Vincent de Paul Society and those who participate in weekly Eucharistic adoration.

We also thank our grounds men Sean and Jim who look after the church grounds and the cemetery and Patsy and Maureen who work in the Parochial House and Parish Office.

We thank those who advise and assist us in the management and administration of the parish especially the Parish Finance Committee and our accountant Theo Orton.

Thanks to Ratoath Garden Centre who donated the Christmas tree for our Church this year and to Michael and the rosary group who decorated the tree; thanks too to all in the altar society who prepared and decorated the church for Christmas.

At our Masses over the Christmas season we remember in a special way our parishioners who lost a loved one in the past 12 months and we pray for all our deceased parishioners.

We send our best wishes and congratulations to the couples who were married here during the year; to the boys and girls who were confirmed in March; to the children who received their Holy Communion this year and to all who were baptised during 2019.

We thank all involved in our four parish schools – the Principals and their teaching staff, and all other staff members; the Boards of Management and Parents Associations; and we wish continued success and happiness to all the pupils.

A warm welcome to those who are new to our community, to those who are home from abroad and we think too of all our parishioners who are away from home this Christmas and we remember them in our prayers at this time.

And finally, to you our parishioners, we would like to thank you most sincerely for your kindness and support to us during the year. We wish you and all your family a happy and blessed Christmas and every good wish for the New Year.

                                                                                                                     Frs. Gerry and Brendan

“I bring you news of great joy, a joy to be shared by the whole people. Today in the town of David, a Saviour has been born to you; he Christ the Lord” (St. Luke)

Mary “gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn”.

In these plain and clear words, Luke brings us to the heart of that holy night: Mary gave birth; she gave us Jesus, the Light of the world. A simple story that plunges us into the event that changes our history for ever. Everything, that night, became a source of hope.

                                                                                                                                                (Pope Francis)
