Please pray for May McConnell (Carrickaboy, Cavan), mother of Margaret Reilly (Ballymagillin) who died recently. May she rest in peace.

The sick and the housebound will be attended to in their homes on Thursday and Friday next.

Wednesday is the Feast of All the Saints is a holy day of obligation.

The Masses are at 11.00am and 7.00pm on the day.

Thursday is the Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed (All Soul’s Day).

Masses at 9.45am and 7.00pm. The church in her pilgrim members, from the very earliest days, has honoured with great respect the memory of the dead and “because it is a holy and a wholesome thought to pray for the dead that they might be loosed from their sins”, she offers her prayers for them.

November is traditionally dedicated as the Month of the Holy Souls when we pray in a special way for family members/ relatives/ friends who are no longer with us. By a long standing tradition, many people choose to abstain from alcohol for the month of November and offer this sacrificial act for the benefit of their deceased loved ones and for the souls in Purgatory.

The sheets and envelopes for the List of the Dead are available at the back of the church. We ask you to fill them in and return them to the box at the back of the church before early November. All on the Parish List of the Dead are prayed for at all Masses in November and on the first Friday of every month.

Legion of Mary: Please note our meetings have now changed to Tuesdays at 7.00pm in the Parish Pastoral Centre. New members are very welcome to join for prayer and apostolic work. Further information, Mary Hannigan 086 083 9295

Pope Francis’ Twitter account – @pontifex – has reached a milestone: 40 million followers in nine languages. According  to the Prefect of the Secretariat for Communication, Msgr Viganò, who is entrusted with the co-ordination of the Papal accounts on Twitter and Instagram, ‘40 million followers means 40 million people, 40 million hearts, minds, and passions.
It is a world, a relationship, a community: this figure emphasizes that so many people continue to follow, day after day, the Pope’s Magisterium, which reaches people in very different ways: from official speeches, to unscripted encounters, to Twitter characters.
Msgr Viganò also said, ‘The Church is born when the Holy Spirit overwhelms the disciples and opens the doors of the Upper Room and they take to the streets of the world. Today, among these streets are the so-called social communities. That is why the Pope is very attentive to this reality: because any relationship needs care, which is to say cor urat, that is, “to warm the heart” even through a few letters.’
“Be courageous witnesses to Christ in the places where you live and work” (Last Wednesday from Pope Francis twitter account)
