9th November – Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica
The original basilica was built in the reign of Pope Miltiades (311- 314). According to a tradition dating from the 12th century its dedication took place on this day. The feast is celebrated throughout the Catholic world because this basilica is the cathedral of Rome and the “Mother and Head of all Churches of the City and of the World”. Our celebration today stresses our links with the Successor of St. Peter. It is dedicated to the Most Holy Saviour.

Safeguarding Awareness Sunday – 9th November
Our Parish Safeguarding Children team consists of Gerardine Rogers and Eileen Doherty.
Our Parish Safeguarding Children Policy is available to view on the Parish website. It includes codes of behaviour for children and adults participating in parish activities, consent forms which parents sign before children participate in parish related activities, adequate supervision and good recruitment practices.
The Parish Representatives and Priests have attended training and receive ongoing support and resources to assist them in fulfilling this important task. Last year we distributed a leaflet prepared in child friendly language for altar servers. This year we are preparing a similar one for children and youth members of parish choirs.
This Sunday is designated by the Diocese as Safeguarding Awareness Sunday. We acknowledge the children and young people who participate in various parish activities and contribute to the life of our parish. We also thank the volunteers and parents whose dedication, commitment, enthusiasm and care ensure that our young parishioners have a positive experience in our parish.
The Meath Diocese has a Safeguarding Children Policy; you may access it on www.meathsafeguarding.ie

If you have any child protection concerns regarding a Church related activity, the Designated Liaison Persons in the Diocese of Meath (Fr. Sean Henry and Nuala McLoughlin) may be contacted at 086-1574774 or you may contact TUSLA (The Child and Family Agency) or An Garda Síochána directly.
