November is traditionally dedicated as the Month of the Holy Souls when we pray in a special way for family members/ relatives/ friends who are no longer with us. Indeed the church in its pilgrim members, from the very earliest days of the Christian religion, has honoured with great respect the memory of the dead; and “because it is a holy and a wholesome thought to pray for the dead that they might be loosed from their sins” (2 Mac) she offers her suffrages for them
The sheets and envelopes for the Lists of the Dead are available at the back of the church. We ask you to please fill them in and return them to the box at the back of the church before early November.

Ashbourne-Donaghmore Parish is pleased to announce the launch a ‘Youth 2000’ prayer-group for young people, 16-35 year olds, beginning Monday 10th November.  Youth 2000 is an international movement of young people called to spread the Good News of the Catholic faith and share this experience with other young people.  Their motto is “Youth leading youth to the heart of the Church.”  Prayer meetings will take place each Monday at 8pm in Ashbourne Church, lasting one hour.  Each Holy Hour will include Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, Silence, Music, Prayers of petition and thanksgiving.

                      Trócaire's Response to Ebola Crisis

Trócaire is working through Church networks in West Africa to tackle the spread of the Ebola virus and to support those affected by the crisis. The agency's initial response is focused on raising awareness of how to reduce the risk of infection. Trócaire is also helping to provide food and counselling to families affected by the virus. The region is likely to experience food shortages over the coming months as a result of the disruption to the planting and harvesting seasons. Trócaire will be assisting communities to overcome food shortages in the months ahead. People in Ireland can support this work by donating directly on trocaire.org or by phoning 1850 408 408
