                                                 Trocaire Lenten Campaign

Throughout the world, poor and marginalised communities have a shared and common goal: to have control over their own lives and the decisions affecting them. The communities Trocaire works alongside, like those in India, ultimately want to be able to live a dignified life where basic needs are met and human rights realised.

“....the world has witnessed the vast resources that governments can draw upon to rescue financial institutions deemed “too big to fail”. Surely the integral human development of the world’s poorest people is no less important. Here is an enterprise....that is truly too big to fail”.

(Pope Benedict, Westminster Hall, London – Sept 2010)

Trocaire boxes can be returned to the church, beginning next Sunday, Palm Sunday.

                                                 St. Patrick’s Day

Christ be with me, Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me, Christ beside me,

Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,

Christ in quiet, Christ in danger, Christ in hearts in all that love me.         Prayer of St Patrick

This prayer is one that we could hold close to us, not just today, St Patrick’s Day.                      It’s a prayer that reminds us how God is present in the very heartbeat of life.

God is close and near to us, not just occasionally, but in every moment of every single day.

St Patrick proudly shared this good news with so many Irish people.

Sometimes we take for granted our faith and we take for granted so much good news around us.

St Patrick’s Day is an occasion to be proud of who we are and what we believe in.

Like St Patrick we need to concentrate more on the good news around us and less on the negative stuff.

Prayer for the New Pope, Pope Francis

O God, who chose your servant Francis in succession to the Apostle Peter as shepherd of the whole flock look favourably on the supplication of your people and grant that, as Vicar of Christ on earth, he may confirm his people and that the whole Church may be in communion with him in the bond of unity, love and peace, so that in you, the shepherd of souls, all may know the truth and attain eternal life. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
