Confirmation on 9th February: We welcome Bishop Smith to Ratoath next Saturday. The Bishop will confirm the boys and girls of Sixth Class from Ratoath Senior N S; St. Paul’s N S and Rathbeggan N S in two ceremonies at 11.00am and 3.00pm. We thank parents, teachers and all who have supported and assisted in preparing the candidates for the sacrament.

Confessions in preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation will be held in the church on Thursday evening from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. We encourage the boys and girls, their parents and sponsors to avail of this opportunity to receive the grace and mercy of God.

A meeting of the children’s liturgy committee will be held on Wednesday 6th February at 8.00pm in the Parish Pastoral Centre.

A meeting of the Board of Management of St. Paul’s National School will be held in the school on Wednesday 6th February at 7.00pm.

8.00am morning Mass for Lent: The Parish Liturgy Committee has proposed that the parish would offer an 8.00am morning Mass during Lent (Mon to Fri). The existing Mass at 9.45am would also be celebrated. It is hoped that this earlier Mass time might be more suitable for number of our parishioners. This Mass will begin the day after Ash Wednesday right though the first week of Lent to see if there is an interest in this earlier time.

A Mass of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday 6th February at 2.30 pm in St. Loman's Hospital Chapel, Mullingar, in memory of deceased patients and people buried in St. Loman's Hospital Cemetery from 1907 to 1970.

When writing cheques for the White Envelope Collection please make it out to “Ratoath Parochial Development Fund” as the bank will no longer accept “Ratoath Parish”. Thank you for your continued support.

Despite the crisis of fatherhood in many societies, the Scriptures show us clearly what it means to call God “Father”. God is infinitely generous, faithful, and forgiving; he so loves the world that he has given us his only Son for our salvation. As “the image of the invisible God” (Col 1:15), Jesus reveals God as a merciful Father who never abandons his children and whose loving concern for us embraces even the Cross. In Christ, God has made us his adopted sons and daughters.

Pope Benedict at the General Audience on Wednesday 30th January
