7 weeks to go to the International Eucharistic Congress

The International Eucharistic Congress is an opportunity for the Irish Church to welcome pilgrims from all over the world and to celebrate our common faith in Jesus Christ. The main events of the congress will take place at the RDS, beginning with congress opening ceremony. The closing ceremony for the congress will take place in Croke Park on 17th June

Pope Benedict has nominated a papal legate who will be his representative at the Congress. The Papal Legate is Cardinal Mark Ouellet, Canadian, who is the Prefect for the Congregation for Bishops (the Vatican office which deals with the appointment of bishops around the world).

Cardinal Ouellet was Archbishop of Quebec which hosted the last International Congress in June 2008. As one might expect of a Canadian bishop, Cardinal Ouellet is fluent in English as well as his native French. As a result of time spent teaching in Bogota, Colombia and in Rome, he also had a good command of Spanish and Italian. His principal role will include presiding at the opening Mass on Sunday 10th June at the RDS and the concluding Mass in Croke Park on Sunday 17th June

To book for the International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin from 10th to 17th June
There are three ways to book for the Congress
1. Telephone the booking office on 01-2981122
2. Book online on the Congress website www.iec2012.ie/registration
3. Download a paper booking form from the congress website and sent the completed form to CSSL, 3rd Floor, Paradigm House, Dundrum Office, Dundrum, Dublin 14
Advance bookings are open until 9th May. After that date all bookings are on site at the RDS
You can register to attend for 1 day, 3 days or 7 days. If you register to attend for 3 or 7 days, you can also register to attend the final Mass on 17th June in Croke Park.
However a one day registration, will not allow you to attend the final Mass.
Volunteers will be given tickets for the final Mass in Croke Park
