Support and Renewal in Priestly Ministry in the Meath Diocese
The priests of the Diocese of Meath took part in a 3 day conference to address various questions on preparing for parish ministry in the future and renewal in priestly life.
The topics on the agenda included evangelisation, liturgy, youth ministry, rationalisation of Masses and working with the media.
Among those making presentations to the priests were the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal who are currently working in Limerick city; Fr Bernard Murphy from The Bronx, New York; Senator Rónán Mullen and journalist John Waters.  The conference was chaired by RTE's Eileen Dunne.
Fr Denis Nulty (Chairman of the Council of Priests) explained that the format for the conference is designed to engage all priests in the opportunities and challenges the Church of the Diocese of Meath will face into the future and to equip them with skills to meet those challenges.
Fr Nulty said that: "the footprint of Church in the Diocese is changing fast with population expansion, less priests and ordained personnel and heavier demands on all in pastoral ministry. While our ultimate goal is to preach the good news of Jesus Christ in season and out of season, we need perhaps a new skill, a new confidence and a new conviction to convey this message."
Congratulations to Eve Stears (Foxbrook) and Lee Cadwell (Foxlodge Woods) who were baptised recently. The Baptismal Team will meet parents, who are due to have their children baptised soon, in the Parish Pastoral Centre on Wednesday next 10th September at 8.00pm Please pray for Norah Connolly (Ratoath Nursing Home) and Liam Maher (Culmullen) father of Lisa Maher (Steeplechase Green) and Linda Maher (Moatlands) and for Maisie Fox (Ballybough) mother of Ray Fox (Jamestown Park) who died during the week. May they rest in peace.
