Opening hours for the Parish Office: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 9.30am– 4.00pm

New Eucharistic Ministers and Readers. We are looking for new Eucharistic Ministers and Readers for our parish, to complement our existing Eucharistic Ministers and Readers. If interested in either of these ministries, please ring the parish office or let Fr. Gerry or Fr. Patrick know.

Baptism: We are introducing a baptismal programme for parents who wish to have their child baptised in our church. This programme is now the norm in most parishes. We need a number of parishioners who would be willing to present the programme. You don’t have to be an expert, as you will be given the necessary training. The programme will run once a month and those who volunteer to run it  will be asked to present the programme a few times during the year.

Congratulations to Elana Talbot (Meadowbank Hill), Saul Harris (Coill Beag),

Jacob Carberry (Bective) and William Brady (The Old Mill) who were baptised recently.

Please pray for Marion Woods (Monaghan) niece of Ann O’Malley (Mruigtuaithe) who died during the week. May she rest in peace.

The sick and the housebound will be attended to in their homes on Thursday and Friday.

Fr Patrick in Ethiopia.

Fr Patrick is joining 12 priests from Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland to visit Ethiopia to join the country’s Millennium celebrations and to take part in the renowned Great Ethiopian Run on Sept 9th, the brainchild of Ethiopian Olympic gold medallists Haile Gebreselassie.

During the visit, each priest will be placed with a local priest for four or five days. The priests’ trip is being arranged by the Catholic agencies of their respective countries (Trocaire in Ireland) and is designed to allow them to visit the local Church communities. During their stay, they will see how Ethiopian people face the challenges of earning a living, protecting their environment, living with HIV and strengthening local organisations to better influence government.

The priests will be in Ethiopia for one of the country’s most exciting celebrations on September 12th next – the Millennium. The date for Ethiopia’s millennium originates from an older calendar that divides the year into 13 months. As a result Ethiopian dates fall between seven and eight years after the Western calendar. We wish Fr. Patrick every blessing and good wish on his visit.
