Opening Hours for the Parish Office

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.30am to 4.00pm

                    Second Sunday of Lent

Today's Mass places before us the transfigured Lord and the model toward whom we must tend, and our own transfiguration as the goal we must attain. We attain this goal by a profound realization of our sinfulness and need of a Redeemer; by preserving purity of body and soul, by observing the commandments and most importantly by participating in the Mass.

"Listen to Him!": everything God wishes to say to humanity he has said through Christ, now that the fullness of time has come

Reflection

What an astounding moment for these three disciples as they experienced the transfiguration of Jesus! They knew him, for a brief time, in a radically different way. Prayer involves going apart, if not physically, at least mentally. It means being present to God as the three disciples were. The difficult part of praying is that our lives are usually so rushed and busy that we rarely call a halt and just look intently at our life with God. When we do stop, our minds are still racing and we can easily get discouraged because “nothing happens” It takes time and practice to contemplate.

Jesus, Lord and Master,

It is indeed wonderful for us to be here.

You are with me now, true God and true Man.

Though the form of presence is certainly different,

you are just as really present in the Eucharist

as you were on the holy mountain of Tabor.

God our Father, help us to hear your Son.

Enlighten us with your word, that we may find a way to your glory.

Forward in Faith -  A Course for Lent 2007.

The topic this year is “ Who is Jesus?” an opportunity to help participants to pray using Scriptures presented in a friendly informal atmosphere in Dowdstown House, Dalgan Park, Navan for 5 Tuesdays from 6th March to 3rd April from 8.00pm-10.00pm.

It is designed with the following groups in mind Readers & Eucharistic Ministers, members of parish committees, parents preparing their children for First Communion & Confirmation, Primary School teachers, people involved in Eucharistic Adoration and parishioners interested in deepening their understanding of Catholicism.  An internal review of the 69 parishes found that there are 2,119 Readers and 2,072 Eucharistic Ministers, with 1,036 involved in various parish committees. This is a significant number of people participating directly in parish activities. It is hoped that better faith formation will enable people to take on greater responsibility in parish life. Another key group of people are involved the 191 parish primary schools, which have over 27,000 pupils, with several thousand teachers and parents involved in handing on faith, which is a top priority for every parish      To register contact Dowdstown House Tel 046 9021407. 10.00am-1.00pm Cost €30.00
