Time with God, Time for Me”.    A word of thanks ….

As we come to the end of our Parish Mission, we want to express our sincere thanks to the Ceili Community who conducted our mission.    We are grateful to all of them for the energy, enthusiasm, faith and messages of hope and joy that they brought to our parish in the past three weeks. We hope that their work here will have a lasting effect in strengthening our faith community and of our commitment to follow Christ more and more every day. We ask God’s blessing on them and on the important work they do in nurturing the faith throughout Ireland.

The Ceili Community are shortly moving their base from Buncrana to Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath. We welcome them to our diocese and hope they will be happy in Kilbeggan.

In particular, we thank Mgr Pat Lynch, leader of the Ceili Community, who met with us on a number of occasions to plan and prepare our mission. We are grateful to him for his dedication, commitment and work in the time he was with us.

We express our thanks to Sr. Ena and the 10 members of her school mission team for sharing their faith in such a lively, warm and engaging way with the children. It was evident from the presentations and the weekend Masses that the children thoroughly enjoyed the work of the mission team. We thank all the staff and children in our 4 parish schools who warmly welcomed and worked with school mission team during the two weeks the mission team was with them.

We thank too, our visitation team who along with some of our parishioners managed to ring the door bells of 2,744 houses in the parish. We regret that it was not possible to call on every home.

We thank the preached mission team of Mgr Pat Lynch, Fr. James Kinane and Sister Kathleen Lynch who were with us for the past week.

To all our parishioner who assisted us we are most grateful and we thank you for all your support – those who offered B& B to our guests; those who assisted the visitation teams on their visits to the homes of the parish; those who helped with the catering and cooking needs of the mission team; the many parishioners who left in food for the mission team; those who helped with the publicity; and those who helped with all the liturgies in the church.

Our prayer for one and all as our mission draws to a close, is that the time we have spent with God may help us to see the Lord more clearly, love Him more dearly and follow Him more nearly day by day.
